I have thought of it very much so. Buy apparently the motor was going to need a rebuild. But me and my dad think it just needs all new valve cover gaskets. It was obviously having oil leak out from there. And another issue is my car is a 03 so I can't put that motor with my tranny I'll need a 04 and up

you sure can use it all. you need to swap the tranny shiftier thing, pnp iirc. then its all golden.

if the bottom end was not rapping id use that over a n/a block any day.

98 Buick Regal GS, F body brakes, Caddy STS wheels, tinted tails L36 bottom end, lightly ported heads, 1.95 roller rockers, headers, gen 5 N* 3.0 pulley, FSIC, 42 lb injectors, a BrandonHall rebuilt trans, DHP tuned and AEM water/Meth injection https://goo.gl/gpV5kW

So wait. Say that again? Cuz I heard only 03 motor will bolt up to a 03 tranny. Same with 97

    you heard lies!!!!

the only difference is the shifter from a 03 is inside the tranny cover where the older tranny had this black box. you change that part over and it all works.

the engine blocks and trannys are all the same 97- 08. the only real difference is the gears. gtp and n/a gp's have different gears in the trannys.

if you had a non hd tranny (n/a) and change to a HD tranny, you need the pcm tuned for the gear change.

or just put the new engine on your cars n/a tranny. just dont beat on it to much or it wont last so long.
