Hello all new to site - shure you've all herd it before but!- and yes ive gone back threw threads and im still confused. IM looking for headers for a 01 gtp .Im not after cheap ones and im not after max power this is a DD just looking to fix what the general screwed up And what were they smoken when they designed that exhaust ? oh my god its unreal .Anyways ive got it narrowed down to 3 =the TOGS from 3800 performance or the ZZP STAINLESS ones or these ones from the W body store STAINLESS with a down pipe . Has any one used the ones from W body ? Like I said im not worried about primarie size 1.5 is plenty way way better than it is now. Wich one of these installes the easiest I don't have a welder nearest place is 40 some miles away. So it has to be a bolt up deal. SO wich one would be the best for me ? Im not opposed to slip joints since it only has one and I like that TOGS can be taken apart if needed another reason for not welding IM going cat delete and hooken back up to stock cat back . ANOTHER question do I need a bung to reinstall the back 02 sensor then since no cat? ANY INPUT and thanks !!!

Bolt up no issues ZZP, also what I have.

WBS appear to be reworked china headers so they work. The alignment of the flange to exhaust port is poor on most china headers.

TOGs were "it" back in the day but I hated them. Was always fixing warped flanges or cracked crossover donuts from shops overtightening to fix a leak.

ZZPs are the best. Back when they first came out, I switched several locals from TOGs to ZZPs and I remember one with a cam/IC/2.55" setup lost 1psi of boost from the improved flow of the ZZP headers.

Ask for the 400 cell cat converter in the downpipe, or buy the offroad version and have a 51659 Magnaflow converter installed, lots of flow and you don't pollute my air. A 3" cat-back I also highly recommend when you do headers, do it now to do it right. The ZZP system is nice, though I still prefer different mufflers, luckily you can buy the system without mufflers and get your own elsewhere.

3.0 exhaust can be brutal on the ears for a daily driver. Maybe I'm to old.

Next bonneville I'm thinking stock mufflers with the headers.

Maybe your older than me and your hearing is starting to go!

My rear view mirror shook and my boy asked what was wrong with the car. It seemed to resonate between 1600-1900 RPM's which is highway speed. Sounded better when I pulled it down one gear.

did you still have a large resonator installed? if not thats why.

I enjoyed my SLP headers with a GMPP exhaust with a Magnaflow resonator. Car was only loud when I wanted it to be.

Whether you run a resonator and what mufflers you run make a difference with 3". One of the big reasons why it's louder, particularly at idle, is the lack of surface tension in the pipe, low backpressure with the amount of airflow from the engine at idle (most don't realize but there can be 1-2 psi of backpressure in the exhaust even at idle). Without that pressure and surface tension, if you're running Magnaflow mufflers for example, the exhaust has little reason to permeate the perforations in the muffler tube into the packing and get muffled.

If you run a turbo muffler or some type of muffler that relies on pressurizing chambers for the exhaust to find its path of least resistance to flow through, you're more likely to get that permeation, and if you run a large resonator infront of those mufflers again you'll get the same effect.

I'm a big fan of a Magnaflow 12641 30" long round muffler for a resonator in a 3" system, takes care of a lot of the booming in the cabin.

I have zzp mufflers and I had there hand made resonator. From the GP kit 4 or 5 years ago. I replaced the 3" resonator when something inside the zzp resonator came apart for the 3rd time. I have zzp headers stainless down pipe with cat.

Local stainless ship replaced with 3" and I told them quieter if you can. I probable need to switch the mufflers but the 2 aluminum restrictors I made bring it down to about the same total area as a 2-1/2 exhaust.

On a different note any one else notice how bad the speed daddy header flanges line up with the exhaust ports. The don't line up well, kind of a stepped entrance.

From everything I have seen and read, if you don't want Speed Daddys go with ZZPs. If I ever built another car, I would go with SDs again, if money wasn't an issue ZZPs. I wouldn't go with Wbs headers or Togs, both of the threads that I have seen on here from people that have purchased them, they both looked like whoever put them together did a piss poor job.

The old FloPro mufflers were very loud. One customer in particular that I installed their full original system, we had their original chambered resonator, switched to the Whisper after it was discovered how restrictive the chambered res was, and no real difference in tone. I remember we had to switch it out once again with another Whisper when the original started rattling. I like the fit and finish on the ZZP system but I do like how you can buy just the pipes and put your own mufflers on. Again, I've had the 30" long Magnaflow muffler installed in several systems that were loud and booming, and the difference particularly in drone/boom was dramatic.

I wouldn't doubt that issue on the SD headers. Also being a knockoff of SLPs, the SLP headers used to have a very nasty lip where the flex pipe was welded on, and I hope that isn't present on the SD. They're still a great value compared to buying a downpipe and a Powerlog etc but if you want the best go for ZZP units. They're comparatively expensive but they're not expensive as far as headers in general go.
