Re: power steering problem
ok so I decided to change out both lines since I was down there. Got the return line in with not to much trouble. The pressure hose is a complete other story. I cant seem to line it up right to get it to screw into the pump. I got it into the rack. Any tips on how to line it up. It seems like the pressure line is to long. I keep kinking it up where it is close to the exhaust.
Re: power steering problem
Did you hold the old and new lines side by side?
Re: power steering problem
Yes, they looked the same. But on my old one i bent the tube right before it goes into the pump. I dont want to bend this one if I dont have to.
Re: power steering problem
Hmm I've never replaced one of them before, hopefully someone who knows will stop by. My chilton doesn't get into specific like lines of course... Just major components.
Re: power steering problem
un hook both sides, un clip the lines form the clips, remove, replace. not much to them.
they are 18 mm line nuts on the rack side.
Re: power steering problem
Just a follow up. I replaced both lines, bled it, and test drove the car. Still had some noise so I bled it again and replaced the reservoir cap. Been a couple of weeks and no noise. Thanks for the help..
Re: power steering problem
I was just thinking about your issue today at work since a GP came in with a p/s noise yet full reservoir. So it was the line replacement that fixed it finally?
