I had this same exact issue. Leaked a lot at times, and other times it didnt leak. Thought it was coolant elbows at first, so replaced with the better aluminum ones. Still had a leak after so I swapped out the water pump. The gasket was just destroyed. So that is most likely what youve got going on. Not too hard of a job, took me a few hours

step one, loosen the 4 bolts on the w/p pulley, then take the belt off. after your done dont forget to make these 4 bolts tight again once the belt is back on.

take the power steering pump off. if super charged take the lower idler pulley off, t 55 torx or 15 mm bolt.

then take the bolts out for the pump, the 4 long bolts need thread sealant on them.

i moved my fuse box up out of the way for more room, if your coolant tank is on the side take it off too.

clean the timing cover up good, use a dry gasket, no rtv is needed.

i had some time, so i painted mine new pump black.

oh, the power steering pump, the pulley has a hole in it, stick a socket in the hole at the 12 and 6 o clock positions to find the bolts.

Just noticed you have 04+. Have you installed the blower fan TSB? There was a TSB for a water deflector to go in the cowl below the wipers to keep moisture from getting at the blower fan. What happens is during thaw/freezes, it would sometimes stick off. I ran it a long time smacking the dash by the glovebox before mine finally went. I suggest you get the $15 plastic deflector in, and pop your motor out and WD40 the exposed shaft end and try to save it. It used to happen to me on car washes in the winters.

If the fan is working and you have no heat, it could be a sign of air entering the system, or a loss of proper circulation.

TSB my ass, you walk into a dealer ask for that part and you get a look back like you have 2 heads. those TSB's are tossed out as soon as they got them. you have to give then the part # or you get nothing, good day sir......

i had to tell my dealership abut the tsb on my truck for brake squawk. every one was like wtf are you talking about? its a dry front drive shaft yolk slipper shaft. they knew nothing about it, even the lousy mechanics knew nothing of it. i had to print it out and bring it back. so i didnt look like the asshole. to top it off, i still had to lube it myself, they claimed its not covered under warranty. now if i had let it go and it blew up, well that was covered, sounds good dont it?

in a round about way yes lol

if your deflector shield leaks, it leaks on the fan, has jack sh it to do with ice or frozen anything, not sure where his info comes from.

It comes from experience servicing fcuking Pontiacs, including my own. The TSB identifies the problem, and the part can be acquired at the dealership. If you had an 04+, maybe your comments would be relevant. What I described is exactly what happens, it gets the motor shaft wet, it rusts, then causes increased friction. In colder climates it freezes also.

You didn't have to call me anything to form an opinion of you, because you were simply an arrogant azz yapping like I posted up a stupid response, when I didn't, I just elaborated further than maybe you are used to? Sorry, but if you don't like being called out, don't slam others here offering good advice. I was kind enough to remove the comment from my post, but after your reply feel it was merited to stay.

you got called out, not me, do what you want. delete or not, your the one thats out of line here.

and think what you want of me, ive helped countless people out here, i'd think way more then you and your 41 post since 07.

thanks for all your great help here, good job sir.

Good for you sir. You didn't call me out, I defended my statements when you were talking down my input because I am a 41 post newbie on this site. Give your head a shake. I have worked on 3800 cars since '87, and I have three far from stock 3800 show quality rides on the road today. Maybe you can park your Regal between two of them at the Detroit show this year.

Sorry for not wanting to be here every day smacking around newbies like you to hop up my post count since 2010. All I was saying is that you had no need to be arrogant, that is all. Your 15k post count doesn't make you always right, and you can ask any 04+ owner that experiences winter, my statement was perfectly relevant. There is a TSB for it, whether you had luck checking for your brake problem or not. The OP can ask the dealer for the PN he needs, just like I did for mine, and numerous of my customers. They have a nice PC with a drawing of the part numbers for him. Since you are such a wealth of help, why don't you get it for him? You obviously have time.

You sure helped me appreciate the club, dissing my suggestion and saying you don't know where I got my info. Sorry if I was not like all the others to just take the BS and shut up because you were the 15k post god
