I'm thinking cracked or loose flexplate. If it doesn't do it in park or neutral then it has to be tranny related. The torque converter isn't engaged when not in gear. Its also bolted to the flexplate.

WHY IS EVERYONE SO OPPOSED TO DOING A COMPRESSION TEST TO TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEMS?

Can't really be anything engine related....where does it sound like the sound is coming from?

True, check the plate tho. That would be my best guess.

x2 mine had the same problem and it turned out that two of my convertor bolts were loose.
