It all started when my 2000 GTP was running rough, had a smell of gas from the engine and had no power. I hooked up the scanner and sure enough: P0300 - P0171 - P0102 - P0452 were the codes I got. I gutted my cat a week ago because of the same symptoms and the car worked fine for a week, then these codes came up. After alot of research, I figured out that I have some major issues. The upper intake gasket (supercharger gasket) is leaking and causing a lean condition which is causing more fuel to be pumped in to compensate (now I know why my fuel mileage was crappy).

So, I also figured while I'm in there, I should do the lower intake gaskets as well. I'm also replacing my valve cover gaskets that are leaking too. And, replace the coolant elbows since I have no idea how old the ones on the car actually are.

A few questions from some of you who might have done this before. Are there any tips to make the process go any quicker? Anything I should look for, or anything I might come across I need to be prepared for?
I found this excellent video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2ZbFwTNjhg which shows you how to replace all the gaskets. I am also lucky enough to have AllData with the procedures on how to do it all. I'm just hoping for some tips from the experts here! Thanks!

    Beer beer and more beer

    The rest is easy.

And make sure you drain the coolant prior to taking apart anything.

Do plugs and wires, lim gaskets, clean your maf or possibly replace (make sure you check out the wires going to it), Should help it a lot.

Thanks for the tips guys. I changed the plugs and wires a year and a half ago. I'll check the coils though. Sometimes the terminals get rusted. Checking the wires is a good idea too on a 13 year old car.

Drain coolant out of the rad then Pull the lower rad hose and use a shop vac and suck from both the block and the hose to suck out ALL the coolant. She's bone dry after that and you have a fresh start. Don't have to worry about anything leaking.

Might as well change the thermostat, injector O-rings and valve cover gaskets if you see any leaks.

While I am fully on board with doing the gaskets. I doubt they are your bigger problems.

P0452 is fuel pressure sensor low voltage
P0171 is lean bank one (which shouldn't automatically be considered a gasket, maybe an EGR tube or a gasket, but locate it first if you haven't already)
    P0102 MAF

If your maf is calculating incorrectly, it can add to fuelling issues which can lead to LB1.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
