Part 1 -GM 3.8L Ignition Module Test and Crank Sensor Test (3X, 18X)

Go there and it will show you how to test and where the wires are supposed to be.

If I remember right, you unplug the ICM, unplug the crankshaft sensor, unplug the camshaft sensor, and unbolt the ground at the top of the ICM bracket (connected to the top bolt coming out of the head itself - facing the passenger side). After than, proceed to fillet your hand fishing the harness out, while trying to remember how is was ran so you can put it back...fillet your hand again.

Ok to be 100% sure the cam sensor is basically to the left of the crank pulley if you were looking at the pulley with the tire off,so only 1 ground?

Yep. the plug of the cam sensor faces down and to the back, so the wire is run behind the top of the HB (in a groove) and has enough slack to plug into the sensor. Take a wire brush to the grounding points as well, you want that to be a solid ground.

Do you mean the CPS if so that's behind the harmonic balancer near the ac compressor.
