i know its a TPS code, but i put in a brand new TPS yesterday....cleared code and it popped back on today.Any thoughts on why it would go bad already? Not sure if it has any value but my boost indicator light on DIC is acting screwy too...either doesnt work or it gets stuck halfway. car idles at around 600-700 rpms and wants to stall when i come to a stop.

i believe that if the boost on the DIC is screwy it has something to do with the MAP sensor. but the code you threw is

    TPS/pedal position sensor A CKT range/perf

yea ZEF answered my question in another thread about that problem about the boost light...i wasnt sure if that might be all tied into this TPS code...i dunno if i got a bad sensor from auto zone or if something is causing it to go bad.any other ideas?
or is TPS/pedal position sensor 2 seperate sensors?

i have gotten bad sensors before, i think if you check the TPS for voltage somewhere it will tell you if its bad. i dont know for sure. we dont have electronic throttle so i dont see the gas pedal having a sensor other than the TPS

i don't think the tps is bad, think it's trying to reset itself. happened to me a month ago. i was unplugging it and and messing with it. it stalled on me 4 different occasions and also wanted to die at the stop light. the check engine even came on. have you try to remove the code cause that's what i done on mine. drive fine now.

technically it should only be one way IMO...if it don't work one way flip it around then it should work.

I have a 98 GTP identical to yours. I accidently drove about 18 miles in 3rd gear.. (not paying attention) luckily i caught it in-time before serious damage, back to point since then my car has been doing the exact same thing. My boost will get stuck on 6-7 bars, RPM's jump to 5,000 + when getting into it to pass, had died a few times the day it ( 3rd gear accident happened) but thankfully stopped. When i initially clear the check engine light it runs fine again, except for the fact my boost indicator doesn't work at all...?? Until chk engine comes back on but then it is stuck at 6-7 bars!?!

Just because you drove 18 miles in 3rd gear doesn't mean it's going to do damage, on the highway, yes it could, but if your doing city driving and going under 50 mph it wouldn't hurt anything
