Hey, I have a 1998 Grand Prix, and under medium to heavy acceleration the supercharger kicks on and makes a loud spitting sound and the check engine engine light flashes, it's throwing the "P1646D, Boost control solenoid control circuit" code. I honestly have no idea what could be wrong. Never dealt with supercharges before, any help is appreciated

Flashing check engine light means possible catalyst damage.

    Which useally leads to misfires.

If it was me I would replace all the spark plugs and replace the boost control solenoid.

I just put new spark plugs in about a month ago, so ill probably pickup a boost control solenoid and see if that fixes the problem

    Which brand?

Also double check that none of the wires came off the plugs.

I checked on auto zones website and they don't have a Boost Control Solenoid, but they have a Supercharger Bypass Solenoid. Are they the same thing?

For some GM cars, the 3800 called for a Iridium style plugs from the factory.

The waste spark ignition system doesnt like platinum plugs.

nope, they suck in our engine. iridium i or copper core is the way to go.

the plats cause misfires, like your getting with the sputtering. its a misfire or 6.......

the iridium's will last a good 70,000 miles or more. the copper plugs 12 to 15,000 tops, the copper are cheap at 2 bucks a plug. people with a good amount of mods run the copper for the most part. all stock stick to the iridium's.

you use 2 different plug types at one time? NGk and acdelco are not the same company. pick one or the other.....

myself i use only ac plugs.
