Put in a stock 195* tstat.
Takes 2 minutes of your time and $5.
Plus if you are stock, there is no reason for you to run a 180*.
I'm not gnna be stock for long. I have hai . Pulley drop dp and pcm coming this week
What he meant was that the 180 does little unless you tune it in on the PCM... If you tune it in that the fans turn on at lower temp, along with the sat opened for flow, you might run a few degrees cooler hehe... Pulley drop huh? Hmmmm... With just a DP... Ok, but to each his own. Good Luck!
Pretty sure your gonna get a ****load of knock. A lot of people with full headers 1.8 rockers and all bolt on supporting mods are getting knock with a 3.6. I had a 2000 ssei and it handled kr better than the gp, and I had all supporting mods and knocked like crazy with a 3.4
First, 180* stats do have their roll. Down here in florida with the high heat these colder stats do help keep things cooler longer. Cooler engine temps translate into cooler transmission temps and heat is a major cause of damage to trans. Up north the colder Tstat isn't worth it. There is Zero power gain and without adjustments to the fans in the PCM for it it will barely reduce temps even by one degree.
Next, I agree that a 3.4" pulley is too large a drop with just a down pipe and box pcm. My suggestion is to do headers and find someone local to do an in car tune.
But before you do any of this, get a scan gauge that you want use every day that displays KR and fuel trims. I like the aeroforce, but i have had the scangauge II also.
Yea don't get pulley happy until you have something to scan with. It's much cheaper to buy a scanning device then it is to replace a motor.
I pln on using the torque pro app ? Is that accurate
I can't comment on the torque pro app, but if you haven't, please read this thread before you need a longblock....
