I have an 04 gtp and i want to do some kind of upgrade to my exhaust but i still want it to be quiet. I dont want to hear it when im just cruising but i do want to hear something when i get on it. I thought of a 2 1/2 inch down pipe with a hi flow cat. I need some suggestions from my fellow grandprix community.

Downpipe and high flow cat wont change the sound, just give you more of the headache with a check engine light from the crappy cat converter.

The 3800 has a terrible exhaust note and its very hard to make them even sound decent.

Stay away from chambered mufflers as they just drone like crazy, I think some guys run a dynomax muffler and they are pretty tame, but I can't be for sure. Do some research.

My magnaflow setup doesnt drone and is quiet in cabin. people say its pretty audible however, and has a deep tone.
On topic: best thing you can do performance wise is headers with a bigger downpipe for better flow. It will deepen the tone a little, but shouldn't change it drastically. Just leave the catback stock.

Just do headers if you don't already have them. I regret doing a cat-back, it sounds horrible. If it wasn't for the power level I'm shooting for I'd still have the stock one.

As an update, I put stock mufflers back on. Lol I couldn't take it anymore.
