Ok im gonna try and make this as short as possible.

    -swapped cams and everything ok
-did some burnouts and on way home oil light came on
-cold motor 35 psi at idle and 5 at hot idle (checked with mechanical gauge)

What the question is, is if i can band aide the problem by replacing rod bearings and switching to a heavier oil?

right now i use Liqui Moly 5w-30 synthetic

And yes i did change oil before starting engine (im thinking i should've done it twice)

    Any input is appreciated

I packed that thing full of assembly lube and also primed motor prior to start.

Ill replace it as a last resort since i don't feel like taking everything apart :/

Bob, I am not here to piss in your cornflakes....the reality is.. that motor is coming out and doing bearings often doesn't go well in these motors. They aren't a SBC 350 and they are durable as all hell...right up until you let the smoke out.

    You let the smoke out.

spun cam bearing --> blocked oil feed holes ----> oil starvation

new cam on old bearings = risky

stop driving it immediately and rebuild

Bob..having been in a similar situation ... the best inspirational advice I can offer is.. "the bolts shouldn't fight." Each time I told myself that one.

    You're right..it doesn't really inspire does it?

Probably started with crank bearing issues.
