Having no specific information, I assumed you have a GTP, if not I'll move it to the correct section.

As well, I would call your attention to this thread, post #7

Not likely head gaskets. Most likely the problem is your valve cover gaskets. Make sure to also pay attention to the oil pressure sensor as they tend to get old, crack and leak.

Yeah the oil sensor is under the full pressure of the oil pump. So it could spray all over, but sometimes depending on the condition they can leak or seep oil too. If you see oil all the way down your engine block it's your valve cover gaskets. Keep in mind that the front valve cover has a recall on it. A way to see if your oil pressure sensor is leaking is to start the engine and get into a position where you could look directly at it. If it is leaking you will see it.

The recall is only for the front valve cover gasket. Had to get mine replaced. Got mine done a year before they recalled though. Got ripped off out of some money from GM. It's most likely the valve cover gasket though. Keep us posted if you find anything out.

There is a recall for the front valve cover gasket. But they don't touch the rear, as far as I know. But if it is in the shop and going to be torn down, maybe they can give you a deal on it.

But I would suspect you need to change the valve cover gaskets and oil pan gaskets. And if these are that bad, you might want to consider changing your Lower Intake Manifold Gasket. All of these were bad on my 97 at 150k miles.

Do a little more research on this because I don't know the details but we were supposed to get reimbursed for the cost of that front gasket if we got it done before the recall. I got mine done too before the recall so I would be interested, just haven't looked into it before.

They do reimburse you for the front valve cover gasket but they decide what the correct price is. So they didn't give me the price I paid for it but they did give me back the majority of the price.
