oh adding stuff is easy, i added a pair a E fans to my 03 gmc, new wiring is easy.
its finding a problem with factory electronics that i hate.

Yea, I'm glad there's nothing wrong with this little CJ2 unit, this thing has it's little fingers into everything. It'd be a royal pain to troublehsoot this thing. I just made up a DIY CAI out of PVC and a K&N Cone filter I didn't use on my truck (didn't fit the MAF sensor). Super charger whine is sexy, lol. I'll get some pictures when I have the camera again on Thursday. I have near 100 miles on it with no SES, Thursday I have to drive to Springfield which is about 140 miles round trip. If I still have no SES after that, I'll consider it fixed and move on to the next problem, lol.
I have my abs/tcs lights on for since I bought my 2000GTX and no issue whatsoever with my cruise. But I would like to have that fixed. I believe the abs module may be faulty. Everything else checked out. I tried interpreting it with a scanner couldn't get any signal back. All my hubs and connections are good. The hubs themselves are new. I've also heard mentioning of using a meter to check each individual component. I'm looking into the how to myself.
Well, I got an SES light on the way home. I'll be heading to O'reilly's in the morning to pull codes. If it's a cylinder 3 misfire, I'm pulling the ignition module in their parking lot and having them check it.
Awesome previous owner strikes again. I went out to pull the oil cap and look at the valve springs to see if they were broke and they weren't. I thought about switching the wires on the coil itself, and went to pull on the wire and the entire coil moved. It's loose. Others are tight and fine. I look closer. One of the mounts bolts is missing from the coil itself, and the other bolt is loose a bit (since the coil moves). I hope this is the problem, I'll be buying another bolt tomorrow and deleting the code, then going for a cruise. Does anyone know if the coil receives a ground from these bolts?
Well, I drove it 150 miles today alone and the SES light came back on after about 70 miles. I'll pull codes later today and see if it's the misfire code again. MPG seemed to be fantastic, only used just under 1\4 of a tank. I started out with a full tank so when I goto pull codes I'll fill it up again so I can get a more accurate MPG.
So I had the module tested 3 times (the most they will test it) and it passed every time. I bought some electronic cleaner and cleaned every connection on it and cleaned the 2 mating surfaces so it'll run cooler. Didn't seen to make much difference, I deleted the code so the SES is off right now, but I'm gonna keep looking for a problem to fix. What else would cause a random misfire code?
What all have you change so far? An icm can test good but still be bad.
I've changed:
Plugs (Delco irridiums)
Wires
02 sensor
ECT
Vacuum lines (all of them)
Battery
Belts
S\C coupler and oil
Cleaned MAF
Cleaned IAC
Cleaned grounds
Cleaned IAT
Cleaned\checked ignition module (several times)
Coolant\oil\transmission flush
Not all were related to this issue, I just bought the car about a week and a half ago so most of this was just maintenance.
I had planned on going to the JY on Saturday, so I'll probably pick up another while I'm there. Does it have to be one from a GTP\L67 or would any 3800 Series II work?
O'Reilly's site has the same part number for both GT and GTP, so I would say they are the same. It would explain my random hard starts too. I'll probably pull the TB and give it a good cleaning this weekend as well. It has GREAT power, but a rough idle. It'll stay running and all, but it's pretty rough.
in that case, these 3800 motors are in bunch of other GM cars. lasabras, bonnies, regals park avs and a few others.
i got my maf out of a N/a park ave. same part # as well.
Tried a JY MAF and ICM, with no change. I also pulled the TB, IAC, and EGR valve and cleaned them both as well as the super charger inlet. No change really. Still has a rough idle and is randomly hard starting. It cruises down the road fantastically and has plenty of power, just has a bad idle. I'm beginning to wonder if I might have a partially clogged cat or something. I'm running out of ideas here. During the week I might go ahead and pull the supercharger and lower intake to change the gaskets there, just to make sure nothing is leaking.
I've done the following:
New battery
New ECT
Cleaned PCV
Cleaned TB
New Fuel Filter
New 02 sensor
New plugs and wires
Swapped coils around
All new vacuum lines
Cleaned grounds
Swapped ICM and MAF
and more

cat could be clogged, but it would be lacking power. but being that you just got it, you may think its got lots of power? if you know what i mean.
you can take the o2 sensor out of the rear manifold and yes it will be a large loud exhaust leak but if it idles smoother the cat maybe clogged up some.
does the cel ever flash if you nail the gas and wind out a gear?
Nope. Normally it'll come on at idle when it's throwing the misfire code. As far as power if I floor it from a stop I'll smoke tires for about 15 feet (ABS\TCS doesn't remember), and if I floor it at anything under 40 MPH I'll spin tires too. My front tires are somewhat bald though, I'm getting some Falken's put on on Monday.
ok then, sounds pretty strong, even with bald tires lol
dont know if this was asked yet, but your running 91 or higher octane?
and its always a random misfires code?
could be the wires that lead to the crank sensor from the icm there could be a bad wire or something.
I'll check that out tomorrow, is there any way to test the crank sensor? How about the cam sensor? I've ran 91 Octane through it since day 1.
When I bought the car it had a Cylinder 3 misfire. When I discovered that the PO had one of the coils on with one bolt I fixed it (added the other bolt), and ever since it's been a random misfire code.
