I have 15-20k rather abusive miles on my Speed Pro pistons /Hastings rings @ +.030, no problems yet. It depends on how what your doing with it, silvolites are the cheapest but they look like cheap chinese garbage when you get them. I bought a set and sent them back as soon as I looked at them, I wouldn't recommend them for anything. Speed pros are pretty cheap at around $300, they look like a high quality precision piece plus they are ceramic coated but their still hypereutectic so they aren't any stronger than stock. Diamonds are the cheaper forged option. If your planning on modding past the basic bolt ons they would be good insurance but not completely necessary. Looking back I wish I had went with them in a 9.5cr when I built my engine. JE's are the good **** but their $800-$900.

what are you planing for this car, tell us a story,

its hard to recomend a piston if we dont know what your building (cam, pully ect.)

diamond is a very good brand, but those speed pros will probly do what you want at half the price, look anthony's sig

also keep in mind that if you buy a forged piston you need to run a little more cylinder wall clearence, with how dense forgings are they like to swell alot
on a daily driver having some piston slap on every cold start might not be your best choice

I am saving for my engine rebuild as well Doug. Although mine will be N/A, I do plan on supercharging down the road. I have been in contact with Diamond Racing about pistons, rings, and pins. They have assured me that thier "shelf" piston (which will take me up to 10:1 compression) can handle up to 20lbs. of boost. Here is the distributor they connected me with. Hope it helps!!
