So i finally have time to do my engine swap just about ready with everything but remembered that when i put my heads on i took off my rockers to put the pushrods in since i forgot to do so on one side, the others went in when i put on the head. My question is do i need to worry about anything like adjusting anything as if i was checking for lifter preload or any adjusting or is that only when installing aftermarket cams and lifters and pushrods? Everything is stock but have no idea if when i crank it over if something will happen like a valve not closing right or something.
Before i do the engine swap i just want to make sure on this. If the weather is good in the next week or two i should be putting it in.
    Engine as of now.

I don't believe the Preload is something needed to worry about on the 3800. Someone correct me if wrong!

It is something to check when installing a cam and lifters and different sized pushrods but idk if its something i should worry on a stock valvetrain, since all pushrods are the same lenght and i just torqued down the rockers to spec all at the same time without making sure the valves were closed or open i just dropped the push rods in and torqued the rockers down.

You should be good bro as stated above if you torqued to spec you should be OK....if it was a rebuild I would pull the fuel pump fuse or whatever else method and get some oil in er. Good luck

non adjustable !!!!!! you would set lash/preload by measuring the tip length (tip of valve to spring pad) and triming the tip of the valve to spec.
can only make adjustments with head off engine

    should measure 1.935 to 1.975

With all stock valvetrain, you'll be just fine. No need to check preload.

But, like someone said, it's always a good idea to pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the motor over to build up oil pressure.

Thanks for the replies. This will be my second engine swap on this car. Tool her out last night for the first time in about almost a year she runs fine it's just the tranny issue I have been having with her not shifting right which is how she got to sit. I have smog due so hopefully I can pass it with flying colors and do the swap after that and get rid of it. I miss the boost and the torque you feel on these cars doesn't compare to my NA 40th I have lol a pick filling her up with 91oct
