Heres my nest question. If im going to run a 3.4 pulley do i need to step down to a colder plug like a 104 and should i get bigger plug wires? Or do the 7mm size work just fine?

Well everything was back together so i tried for a start up to see how it runs. NOT GOOD! It was missing like crazy and the Check Engine light started flashing. Sounded and felt like it was running on 3 cylinders. Plus I was getting white smoke from out of the exhaust manifolds. So i shut it off pretty quickly. I pretty sure i have the gaskets seated right. I was pretty careful with that part of it. When i removed the LIM some of the coolant drained down into the cam area and drained into the crankcase. So i figure this was the cause of that problem. Coolant in the oil is never good. So i drained the oil and it was brown. I plan on flushing the system tomorrow. Hopefully that will resolve that issue.

As far as the missing goes i checked the plug wires( i put on new wires too, DURALAST from Autozone) And i noticed that on 3 or 4 of them i had a good 1/2 inch of the white plug insulator showing. But on some the wire covered the entire plug. Thats not normal right? i would think with the insulation showing that much it could have been arcing out. Am i right? Please tell me if this is normal or not. I looked inside the wire and on some the metal clip was only an inch or so inside the boot and on others it was further down. I plan on returning them tomorrow unless i here differently from you guys. Are Duralast wires any good on these cars? If not what should i replace them with?

double check your wires. heres a pic.

and im using duralast wires as well, you may just need to push the boot harder onto the plug, it should click.

    Nvm... Reading>me...

But yes, take those wires back if the insulation is not covered... Those are defective and need exchanged. Check them before you leave the store too.

Im taking them back in a couple hrs and gonna pick up the stuff to do an oil change. As nasty as that oil was i think ill buy some cheap oil and a bottle of Seafoam. Run that for a couple min and then drain it and change it again with some good oil. Is the seafoam worth the money? or should i just flush i with oil?

I hope this is the end of my probs. This car hasnt run right from the time i bought it about 4 months ago. Been battling old plugs, vac leaks, dirty maf, the list goes on. Its a shame the previous owner didnt keep the proper maintence up on it like this GTX deserves. But its ok tho. Its got a good home now.

Ok. Got it all put back together. Changed the wires, idle was still a little rough. Let it idle for about 10 min then took it for a drive. It felt great, power was better than i had ever felt. No chugging or missing. I was a happy camper... Until......... It spun a rod bearing.!!!
Auuuuugh! Icant believe this. Guess im looking for an engine now. Unless i decide to rebuild this one. In which case ill prob do some serious modding. Im open for ideas now guys.

    Buy another engine.

Don't rebuild it, it'll break again and cost you wayyy more than another engine.

Yeah honestly the more i think about it the more ill prob just buy another motor to drop in it. At the end of the day its still a 13 yr old FWD car with 146k miles on it. I dont think i have the time or motivation to mod it that seriously. A few mild bolt ons will be good enough for me. Prob get a set of headers, tune and pulley and call it a day. The rest of the car is in pretty good shape tho. Suspension is tight with no squeaks, Brakes are good, no rust, interrior nice, so on so on. Plus it is a GTX so its worth an engine swap. Guess ill be jumping to the parts threads now. lol
