He previously asked if the cylinders were bored.

That's what I was referring to.

Motor doesnt sound blown particularly... You would have some very glittery oil if you were ****ting rod bearings.

I would put some stock rockers and pushrods back on it and see what happens.

    Le fail.

They were the only ones to make a worthwhile kit, it was just expensive as hell.

Like slow said...only way you're going to really find out or not is to pull the engine and rip it apart and measure the cylinders wall to wall.
Couldn't sell enough of those 4.2 stroker kits I guess.

And that engine sounds like my old 5hp Briggs I had on our "race" lawnmower.

    And smile it's Blacktooth Grin!

Never did ask that I just wanted to know if I can take off the oil pan and find out the necessary info from there instead of taking off the heads.

I was thinking about that as well since stock rockers n pushrods aren't hard to come by. And most likely do the lifters as well.

I assumed that from the JE pistons quote.

I'd also say it'd be easier to yank the heads then remove the pan...because unless you want to fight it for awhile, removing the pan with the subframe in is a major PITA.

It's not that bad. It's support from above, pull bracket, pull pan.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Even with my tiny man hands, removing the motor mount bracket was a pain.

Put it this way should I bother to open it up if I fix that ticking noise? Because if I really and I mean really have too I will since I have a daily driver for now. But won't have time till about 1-2 months from now to pull it out and such.

Depends on your mechanic skill really.

LIM can be ripped out, fluids drained, new pushrods/lifters/gaskets/fluids/filters can be done in about a few hours.

If you know what you're doing.

If not, plan a day/weekend to mess with it.

Not a pro but when it comes to these engines I have the idea down. On my second engine rebuild as of now and swap as well. Changed all gaskets and fluids and such but never messed with the bottom end such as pistons, rods n crank n such everything else is a go pretty much.

so umm if its gonna get rockers and pushrods why in the hell would you mess with the pan? Unless its leaking of course. Pull the damn heads put stock rockers and pushrods in AFTER measuring bore AND stroke. Why mess with the oil pan again I don't get that at all.

Looked like some exhaust might have slipped out at the front header gasket, too. I see what looks like a puff of smoke at 6:46.... or something reflected sunlight into the engine bay. Hard to say. Either way, just buy some new headers. If it's got one hole, it's bound to make another.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

I think it was just a reflection. i was thinking of just patching it up or put another set of New SLP headers i have laying around here if they dont sell. I just wish i knew exactly what the tick was before i took it apart.
