I finally got my gasket set in the mail today and noticed Felpro sent me graphite head gaskets, not metal...

I have Permatex Ultra Copper silicone but not sure if I should use this with graphite gaskets??

Thanks in advance for your help!

Are you talking about lower intake gaskets not head gaskets? You want to use copper spray with head gaskets but you want to use the Ultra-gray RTV with LIM gaskets.

You should get the Metal GM ones not the felpro gaskets.

Funny thing is, the gaskets were graphite when I removed the heads. It must have came stock that way because I never touched them! Weird...

What I am trying to say is that their is no metal head gasket that I know of. They are come like the Felpro. Only the LIM gaskets come in metal.

You don't use ultra copper silicone on them though. You would use copper spray like this:

I would get it from another place though.

shouldn't need copper spray....just had mine replaced and I used the same gasket. Check the corner edge of the gasket, the mating surface should feel a little tacky.

You don't need it but it's extra insurance.

Thank you both for your input. Bayus2972: Will the copper spray hurt anything? or just not needed?

Right gaskets...and I always copper spray for the hell of it.

On the metal gaskets. Sounds like the cometic mls gaskets. They are metal and do require spray.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
