Walmart has the highest octane gas in my area for the lowest price. I've read comments on here about shell gas quality for the 3.8L SC engine. What brand of gas seems to run the best?

its all up to how your car runs on the gas your buying.

i have 2 deltas by me one is real cheap and one is right across the street from me, i had been going there for over a year.

then i was real low, so i stopped at another delta, (other side of town) and my car felt like it just got real gas, the other station is selling crap, either way i no longer go to the cheap station by me because they sell sh1t gas.

and i ve seen the tanker come to fill both stations, different tanker trucks, i found that odd. so my guess is they are both privately owned franchises and buy their gas from where ever they want too. not all gas is equal, i found that out first hand.

I don't run walmart gas because on my old car i lost about 3 mpg when using it. Not worth the $.05 a gallon i was saving. I now always use the shell gas in my gtp since i get the least KR off of it.

    Wal-Mart sells Gas stateside? Weird!

Yea, I find not all gas is the same..gas is not gas. Try a few different stations/brands, see what works best for you, performance and economy wise.

Does anyone see any benefit of buying from a station that advertises "Top Tier" gas? I seem to get a little better mileage in my 03 GT.

    find gas with zero ethanol.

that'll net the best fuel economy.

yeah... if only. Everyone in my area has that 10% ethanol stuff since maine outlawed MTBE. Mobil and Shell are my primary stations. Citgo is ok, but i dont like my money going to Hugo Chavez. Gulf, Sunoco, and Irving are all bottom of the barrel.

BTW, Mobil Shell and Chevron are all "top tier".

non ethanol is great but costs more. i saw 1 to 2 more mpgs with it. you can also get k100, its a fuel additive that breaks down the ethanol and removes moisture from the gass

Thanks for the replys. I'm in Iowa and most have the ethanol additive and some only have that. Walmart here only has the ethanol additive and sells the 89 and 93 octane. Shell has 91 octane and is non-ethanol. I havn't driven my GTP enough to tell much difference between gas fillups. I just switched from the Walmart 93 to the shell 91 and thought I would see if it helped knock retard.

Break down the octane booster in your fuel? Sounds like a bad idea.

And I thought 92 was bad. While it seems I can only find 93 at a few stations the Sunoco by my old place had 94 on the pumps and 104 at a side pump during the summer but it has lead. just recently have they disappeared

104 is race gas. i bet it cost like 8 a gallon lol

94 would be ideal, anything 91 and up is what your engine wants, if your supercharged that is, you n/a guys just run the cheap 87 all day.

Ethanol is of a higher octane and its commonly used to bump up the octane of fuel in stead of MTBE. Its not nearly as toxic, and is already compatible with most fuel systems in concentrations up to 10%.

Is also responsible for slightly reducing cost of fuel.

So if you're removing that from your 91 octane, it isn't 91 octane anymore. It'd be less.

I find my car runs best on Exxon around here. If I don't have time to stop there I go to Loaf N Jug.
