If I delete my cat will the O2 emulator allow me to pass through emissions?
In Maryland they use the OBD system to check for emissions, not the old fashioned plug into the tailpipes.
Thanks!

Well it should since its designed to fool the PCM into thinking the Cat is there. I would think, however, that it would be better to just delete the code entirely from the PCM. However I am unsure of how either method affects the emissions self test the PCM runs. I forget how our cars display it, but it will run a series of emissions self test and if it comes back incomplete on anything, it will flag that and ODB testing will fail you for that.
If you reset your PCM it will show this testing as incomplete until you drive a bit and let all of it run again.
And there is also the chance they do a 'visual' inspection to see if the Cat is physically there too so that could be an issue as well.
as far as visual inspection, lmao don't worry about it....highly doubt they'll do it but they can i guess...i'm thinking as long as your not throwing any codes your A- OK...plus NC's emissions law is that any car 10yrs or older doesn't have to do emissions so if ur a 97-98GTP ... lucky u!
Well anyone who has lived in Maryland knows it's one giant city. Anytime I have to goto emissions there is a long line to get it done so, no, they never check under the car because they are just trying to get people out. We have the same rule that cars don't need emissions checks after a certain date but two things apply. One is if your car was made before 1970 (not 100% on that year but it's in the 70's) you don't have to take emissions. The other is if your car is at least 20 years old and you have Historical Tags. So right now in Maryland any vehicle made after 1988 has to get an emissions test.
Either way I just want the simulator for the test and then take it off and put the stock one back on. I'll give it a shot.
BTW I want my exhaust loud and raspy, and if smelly and harmful come along with it... eh I'll stand it.
Thanks for the help guys!
while i realize this is an old post but ill post this up for reference. i cleared the codes on my sisters corolla while idling outside the emissions center. left the scanner on the passengers seat and passed without a problem. I'm in Illinois BTW
i guess they dont check for codes that have been deleted/cleared. i was pretty suprised that they passed the car
