Hey everyone. Looks like I'm buying a 02 gtp and was wondering which intake u guys suggest. I've heard of 3 kinds. Cold air, not sure on these last two. Round cone and short ram (I think). My goal is of coarse to get more hp but mostly I want to hear that sc whine more than ever. So what u guys think. Also what are some other not too expensive mods for hp?

Thx guys That's deffineyly lots of info blue. So basically it looks like all I can do right now for cheap performance is put an open cone intake on for now. What kind of filter do u guys use. And just PVC pipe or something like that?

    Search "simple intake pictures".

The search bar is at the top, hidden in the black.

yeah but then the maf kinda cancels that out by being inconveniently located in the middle of the intake lol

97-03 cars take a long open cone spectra finter slap it on end of throttle body and put drill a hole in side of rubber to put IAT into. or put a pvc elbow on end of tb and drill a hole in that then put the filter on end of that but since you want something straight befor the maf for more accurate readings slapping a cone on seems to be best

on 04+ car put an elbow on tb then put your maf to that with the spectra filter connected to maf
and just drill a hole into w/e the orig IAT sat and put it in there

that k and N is worth less. and the oil you put on the filter is known to mess with your maf sensor.

you can buy intake tubes at the local parts store and slap a dry filter on the end and be done with it whole set will run you under 40 bucks.

this is how mine came out. ait sensor in the tube and all.

Thats if you OVER oil it like an idiot.

No car that I've ever oiled a filter on has had maf issues.

Quick oiling of each pleat and that's all you need. It should be pink, not red.

Whoa, I read this and thought I was on MCF for a minut there....

I've used e-bay to K&N intakes on my 3800s. I really like the k&N, but the ebay worked fine too. Its all about knowing when and how to change or refresh your filter.

My finding? Hai with those small filters flow similarily to a zzp intake with a large filter.

An open cone with large filter flows the best.

Iat with zzp has literally been the same as ambient. Hot air never got better than 5-10* f above. Both heat soak at idle however zzp comes down to ambient at speeds as low as 25 mph. Hai requires 40+ mph for that.

Theoretically best flow and highest temp would be best for fuel economy see hai. For best power a zzp with something other than their crazy ducting. The ducting claim ive yet to test but i will shortly.

Thx a bunch guys. Now anyone have a part number for the filter or should I just measure how much room I have? Also this car is a daily driver. Is it ok to run the open cone in winter. Or would stock be best?
