or just connect the filter right to your throttle body if you want to be cheap...
First mod I have done is an intake. Look at my albums and tell me if it's bad. It's kinda just chillin over my PCM, an after reading this I feel like I should move it lol btw it's custom with a k&n cone
how small is that intake pipe?.... that is like trying to suck a golf ball through a bar straw.......that pipe needs to be bigger. If it is still in the engine bay and sucking warm air it probably should be right on the throttle body. At least that way you won't have hardly any restriction. That pipe is an airflow killer........ or if you want an intake get it into the fender wall so it can suck cold air......either make your own or at least look at the on TDC has to offer. They are reasonably priced.
Craptastic! HAHA i like it!
But in reality you want colder air going into your engine, that is a HAI, hot air form the engine bay is being utilized. This is a good set up only if you are using another cooling method (alcohol, meth, intercooling). With that setup your most likely gaining mpg and retaining stock HP or even loosing some.
You either want to create an air box around it so it sucks air form the fender wall or extend it into the fender wall. The earlier is much harder.
Just read this and get off the S/C section with that N/A engine!! Jk.
I feel dumblol how much for a tdc. I don't feel like checking lol good news is is that it was only $60 and I'll sell it to some dumb ricer
I didn't even notice the with of the pipe until you mentioned it. Yea your def right his intake is choking!! lol.
TDC Intake.
fwi's sound great but i dont wanna rip off my whole f'in fender and cut **** to install it
you dont have to rip off any part of your fender other than the brace on the inside.....one metal piece. You cant tell from the outside that it has been modified. If you still dont want to, I dont blame you.......then just get a bigger replacement pipe like pvc or just get a bigger filter to fit on the throttle body...
oh well i guess i read it wrong lol well couldnt i run pvc directly over to the lil hole and have the filter sit in there? or is that just it and im missing the point? ha
oh and is the filter itself good? damn thing costs 60 bucks (but i got the whole intake for 60 soooo) lol
yes, you could do that kind of. there isnt room for the filter just to sit in there unless it is angled down in the fenderwell towards the ground(which tdc's already has done to it.) Your filter may be OK if the diameter of the filter was bigger, but since it is designed to fit a larger pipe, I doubt it just by looking at it........I dont remember if tdc's pipe was 3,3.5 or four inch.......
tdc also has all of the filters for this.......personally I bought a K and N filter for it and it was IIRC $45.00 or so.......he has a couple different brands to choose from.
hmm well i may just sell this hai to some dumb ricer =p but dude 120 bucks is ALOT with my budget. and i was planning on a 2.5 in dp w/cat and u-bend delete. should i keep my hai for now or just ditch it and just get the fwi now and save up for the dp
if you do run pvc, you will have to use something to block off the fenderwall (roof flashing) you can make your own........just a sec and I will get the link for making it...
ok but whats roof flashing?
here it is explained:http://www.grandprixforums.net/f73/make-a-4-fenderwell-intake-fwi-20.html
This is the least expensive way to go...........roof flashing is what they use on your roof to seal off pipes from the shingles.......you will see it in the write up. Let me know if you have any more questions......
oh i have another and probably plenty more....there is a lil wire thinger that hooks into my hai. it has to do with the MAF i think. does it explain what to do with that in the post?
