Start up should be tune related. Compression is due to the valves closing and rings being good. There's no loss of compression on a motor that flows better.
Here's a startup with:
S1X cam, S3 Heads, 1.8 Rockers, Gen V, 2.9" pulley, EWP, S3 IC, N*, 42.5# injectors, PRJ wires, VC breather, 8 rib belt, newer alt, 4" intake, SLP Headers, 3" pipe to nearly the muffler, etc etc etc.
The noise you hear at key on is the ewp and IC pump. Starting barely takes anything
