Hi guys I'm not sure if I had asked this question or bot yet but my 97gtp has 205k on it, alot of miles.. I want to buy another engine for standby. Can I buy a gt n/a engine and swap my charger over? Or do I need to buy another GTP ENGINE?

Also any one have recommendations to where I can get a good price on engines? Is there anyone that sells slightly upgraded engines for our cars.. (Like how they sell crate engines for f body's )

    Thanks all!

find a another GTP motor (L67), it makes everything easier and no need to have to deal with the high comp block of the L36 and everything with it.

    Check craigslist, carpart.com, junkyards.

But IMO, I dont see you having any problems running that motor for a long long time unless there is something wrong with it now.

Nothin wrong with it, just figured it's getting high milage. I check Ed morad parts seemed reasonable. Gts have higher compression?

    L67 is 8.5:1, L36 is 9.4:1.

I'd leave the engine alone if it were my money. My GTP has 236K on it, still doesn't leak a drop of oil. I'd actually put the money towards a future transmission, as they tend to be less resilient.

I've got nearly 202K and I daily drive mine. If it's running good and maintenance is up to snuff.. it won't hurt to have a back up. But it's also not really necessary. I've seen them go 300K plus and I've seen them die at 50K. Sounds like yours is driven decently and not beaten like a bad step child too often.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
