I have been thinking about throwing a cam in my 04 gtp

Mods are: zzp short stack intercooler, 1.9 rockers, 3.3 supercharger pully, pacesetter headers, no cat, flowmasters. Tuned

What am I looking at to throw something like an xp cam in? :-)

    Stock rockers
    105# ~ valve springs
    valve seals
    rocker bolts
gasket kit, entire engine gasket kit may be cheaper than cover, lim, etc.
new stock timing chain and dampener
balancer puller rent or buy and do a search for the correct bolts to be used on the 3800s
valve spring compressor tool rent or buy
    assembly lube
    coolant elbows
    coolant
    oil
    tools.

One of the most often mistakes or overlooks is the break in oil. when installing all this crap water gets into areas that eventually end up in the oil pan, the best thing to prevent a spun bearing is to change the oil after the first startup, then again after a few miles. You may want to change it more than that. Use cheap oil if you want on the first couple changes.

Drain coolant before removing even the TB/UIM/Blower.

It just doesn't "disappear" completely after you drain something, there is always some left.

Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

remove the front knock sensor to get most of the coolant out of the block.

Yup and it helps if you pull the knock sensor and then rock the motor forward a few times
