14 is a nice compromise between safety and safety.

Because yes, if it gets too low, it becomes a safety concern. Just as it would be if it was too high.

Stock for stock the LS4 has more top end, period. But when an L67 is making that kind of power, the curve has shifted enough for it to be a wash.

I see too many people read/regurgitate incorrect stuff all the time. It gets passed around as fact and is a bit of a pet peeve of mine.
