That goes in the oil filter adapter with the long spring. Spring goes in the hole on the block and that cylinder goes on it.

You would have a tough time getting oil pressure.

There's no reason for that to be out when you are doing a cam install. That means your oil filter adapter must have been off.

    Eric Buono's Cam Install

cam and balancer bolts can be reused, just put a little bit of loctite on them.

I will do my best to decipher this:

Ok well the reason the cylinder was out was becausr for some reason it was easier to disconnect the oil filter adapter because my turbo oil feed was
You removed the oil filter adapter to install the oil feed line for the turbocharger. The bypass cylinder and spring fell out.

the only problem that im having its lowering the engine to get the cam out its there a different in lowering the engine from an old gp to a new gp mine is a 2005 how should i lower. The engine to get the cam out??
You're asking about the procedure for lowering the cradle on a 2005 compared to a 97 to 03 GP.

I definately lost a few brain cells while reading that post. LOL

I'm about to lower one tonight for a cam swap. I did a newer GP last spring/summer and it wasn't anything different except. You didn't have to jockey two jacks, due to the oil pan being the motor mount. Lower down the passenger side and disconnect the strut from the body of the car, that will allow it to come down a little further. Now loosen the driverside to allow it to drop more. That should do it.

Funny Swiggs did a cam swap Sat-Sun and I'm doing one Mon-Wed.

    ANNNNNT Sorry...

Step by step to lower the cradle and swap a cam. I'm assuming you have all the engine disassembly ready. I prep everything first. Literally when I did this last night, the timing cover bolts were out, lifters were out, you name it..even the timing cover bolts and lim bolts have already been wire brushed for the sealant upon reassembly. Looking at the pictures again, I had the gasket surface cleaned and wiped, the cam thrust plate was off...I mean I lowered, slid one out, slid the new one in and poof..it was back up.

Jack and support the car from the body (aka drip edge where the metal is double/triple thick, refer to owners manual for jacking point if unsure)
Disconnect your dogbone mounts up top. Likely you only have the driverside on the car.
Remove the nuts from the passengerside strut tower (these hold the strut mount to the strut tower) 3 x 15mm
Loosen the 2 driverside subframe bolts 2 full turns these are 18mm bolts
Put a jack under the passengerside subframe and support it.
Remove the 2 18mm bolts from the passengerside subframe.
Lower jack until you can get the cam out.

Once the cam is out and the new one is in place, jack the frame back up. If it gives you trouble putting the passengerside bolts back in. Look at the front bolt locationa and note the hole behind it in the frame. Use an extension or pry bar to move the subframe and align the hole with the nut, then put your bolt back in. Reinstall the rear passengerside bolt and tighten the all of the subframe bolts. Reinstall the strut nuts. I found it easy to bring the subframe up, start a strut nut or two then align the subframe. Also note that I worked the jack with my foot as I guided the strut mount into the holes on the strut tower.

Yes..I know I make it sound easy. It feels easy when you've done it too many times.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
