Just got through installing my sd headers and these things leak on both ends of the crossover and again on the cat delete.I have shifted and reclamped, to no avail. I had to use copper rtv on all three areas..wtf! It sounds and runs great but aesthetically ridiculous.

Did you use gaskets on the crossover...?

By cat delete do you mean where it bolts to the catback? Because another gasket goes there.

What type of clamps are you using on the crossover?

I forgot SDs used those. The ones the headers come with are known for being junk. You should use:

    (2) 2.25” Napa Easy Seal Band Clamps (can pick up at napa for around 11 dollars for each clamp)
    (2) 3” Napa Easy Seal Band Clamps (so you will have a total of 4 clamps all together)
V Band clamp that comes with the speed daddy headers

I'm not there with him, but I feel his pain. Can be very frustrating.

Frozenboost.com has the clamps for $5 each. Quick on shipping too.

As for leaks. I don't understand why people have leaks and I have put on about 20 sets of these things w/o a leak. Even wrote up how to make it all happen.

I've never yet used RTV on any headers that weren't TOG's.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

My sealed no problem with new donut gaskets. And I don't use rtv on exhaust. Use exhaust paste, put it and the pipe that is leaking before you install it.

Dont use RTV! Use this-- Exhaust Repair

It works excellent. I got mine at Napa, it comes in a tube like RTV and is white in color.

    Can you ever remove it?

Please note that ONCE CURED, the repair becomes very much like concrete and is extremely difficult to remove. Extended soaking in water for a long period of time will slowly soften it up.
Doesn't really sound feasible to easily remove/disassemble.

    yes he does.

SD or SSAC headers come in 4 parts.

Front headers, crossover, rear header and downpipe.

Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

I never had any problem removing it. And it sure does work. Just a thin coat of the pipes where they join together.
