so im getting a blown up L67 soon for parts, it has a good blower on it and i was going to paint it port it and put it on my car and was thinking about welding the silencer ports on the blower (no im not going to use JB weld im not an idiot). i figured why not give it a try i have 2 extra Gen 3's im also aware of the case warping if getting heated to much, i know a guy who runs his own welding shop and he has welled cast aluminum alot before and he gave me a good price. im kinda curious to see how this would work out has anyone ever done this before? will the silencer ports have an effect on performance or temp changes on the blower? i just think this would be a pretty cool experiment because i never seen it done before. i know a gen 5 would be eaiser to do but im not going to throw my money out on a gen 5 and it not be worth it, like i said i have 2 extra gen 3's.

Plenty of people have sealed the silencer ports. It just gives you a louder whine pretty much.

It will make a small difference in the sound of the the blower....its really not even worth doing......

And unless you have your BBV sealed up, it will never whistle at idle.

when you are at idle, the bbv is in the full open position, so any and all boost being generated goes straight to that........so no, you won't get any "blower whine/whistle" at idle.

Welding the silencer ports is just too much risk for not enough gain.

Had mine sealed. Minimal gain, if any. Just leave them.
