I finally found the source of my obnoxious ticking that I thought may have been a lifter. I went to remove my original cam to put in the new XP only to find out that the second bearing has come out and been mangled. I'm going to see what I can do to remove the camshaft since I can't get it back into the block all of the way either. I'm wondering if it's possible for me to install a new bearing with the engine still in the car. Or, should I pull it and do it that way?

Ive replaced cam bearings both ways, in the car and out, out is easier however its more time consuming.

It can be done inside the car. It just takes more patience

Awesome! Now I just need an installer tool... No one in the area has a used one or one they're willing to loan out. I may end up making my own.

I've got a contact at a local engine shop that is willing to let me borrow the tool for a few days.
