So the oring that ZZP sent me to seal the fuel pump canister in the tank failed and I got a new one from advance auto. It is noticeably thicker which sounds awesome, hurray it should seal properly. But I cannot for the life of me push the freaking canister down hard enough to get the snap ring to slip under the tabs that hold the whole setup in place. Is there a trick to this? I'm bout to break my thumbs pushing down on this bastard.

Same problem here when I replaced my pump. I used a 2X4 and my foot. Put some lube on the snap ring.

Shove it down as far as you can, then slip the closed end of the snap ring in under the lines. Shove it more while you walk the rest of the ring in.

I got the bastard. I did basically what you were saying. I got the ring under one clip, then pushed like a mofo on the edge with a peice of wood and then with a claw hammer with the claw tucked under the sheet metal. What a pain in the ass lol. Thanks for the help guys I appreciate it.

The seal looks to be holding. I went to fill it up and nothing poured out. I drove home "spiritedly" to try to get the fuel to slosh around and nothing ran out the top. I think I'm good. If this seal ends up failing I WILL most likely shed tears.
