How do you like your sound with that setup? Is there any header cat back setup that creates HP gain and MPG gain? I always thought for some reason that it naturally would?

I love the way they sound. my wife thinks its sounds like a teenager car but to me the tone in really nice. I reccomend getting on youtube and listening to some grandprix's that have the magnaflow exhaust. some will have headers and some not. you can uselly tell a difference. as far as I know there is no exhaust upgrade you can do that will give both gas milage and more power.
Gains are had for sure with no catalyst parts, freer flowing primaries...the motor doesn't have to work as hard...and then with a tune?
Expect mid to high 20's in the highway, even 30's. I saw well into the 30's...29 all the way to the Iowa meet last year...heads/cam/headers/pulley/LS1TB setup...WB tuned...yeah yeah. It was nice.
plog is the front manifold by zzp.
slp loud mouth sounds pretty good too and not too loud.
I didnt realize the setup from ZZP was MagnaFlow I do like the sound of it Will sent me this link that he said is a good representation of the sound of Magnaflow.
Generally speaking there is no real reason to do any cat work unless I have too right? Cause if I mess with the cat I probably wont pass emissions? I just want to get it all done while im under there. My budget is 1500-2000 grand for this project and like ive said in earlier posts. I want the benefits of having headers, I do mostly freeway on cruise, so I have seen 30MPG from time to time, I dont mind stomping on the throttle to piss of a Mustang every now and then, and I want to hear a better sound then stock. If you guys have any suggestions to modify my plans before I take her in let me know!!!

When our engines get loud, they sound worse.
Do you mean when you add headers? I know a V6 will never sound spectacular but it could sound a lil better then stock. Either way I just have a project and ive been wanted to get it done for a while so just want to get some other members input on what they liked for just a Header, cat back system.
No, he means when you do stupid stuff like remove the resonator or put flowmaster mufflers on, or straight pipe it out the back, or run open headers.
So far...
I like the ability to hear the whine of the S/C when opening up the throttle. As a matter of fact, liking that sound is surely costing me some mpg/gas/economy...
A loud exhaust might overpower that sound, but to each - his own!
But I reserve the right to change it (exhaust) in the future, lolololol... ;)
Is there an exhaust that you recommend then to satisfy my needs? Like I said earlier I need new ones since mine are broken due to an accident. I have no intention of removing the resonator, I only want to do what will create an optimal situation. I had set my goal to installing headers. But im getting mixed reviews.
Do headers add performance and MPGs? And will changing mufflers decrease MPGs? I read on exhaust manufactures websites that exhaust replacement will increase MPgs due to reducing restriction of flow. Is tis not correct for our GPs?
So bear with me guys as I dont know exactly how all this works but ive been reading up on a new downpipe, is this something if done i conjunction with header and exhaust will be beneficial? Or is a new downpipe not necessarily when adding headers?
From what I can discern from the product info we have a very restrictive element in the exhaust. And that replacing the down pipe will make a big difference.
Here is the item im interested in, also, would going to a 3" set up be better then a 2.5"?
ZZPerformance - ZZP Downpipes #ZZ-GPDP
Paired with this...
ZZPerformance - 3" Aluminized Catback Exhaust #ZZ-3GPALCB
And this...
ZZPerformance - Stainless Headers #ZZ-304HDR-38
Downpipe is not necessary on almost all headers. I think ZZP is the exception but i cant remember. Just get the speed daddy headers and stock catback and call it a day.
Yes its Magnaflow.
If you use anything other than stock replacement parts in the exhaust your car will sound like crap. Or like this

And trust me that sounds even worse driving down the highway.
Ok what if you like that kind of sound? Its really hard to make a decision based on a youtube video. But heres the deal I like a deep throaty sound, doesn't need to wail but thats what I want. If were to go and replace with stock exhaust what would that be, or where would I buy that from? Everything that I have been researching indicates that all these aftermarket exhausts are bolt in which means I get to do it! Is this true with all exhausts, Can I literally jack up my car and bolt my current exhaust and bolt in the new one?
if you straight pipe your car it will sound horrible. that video sound horrible.
If you like your 3800 to sound like sh1t, make it loud...no resonator...and love everyone pointing and lol'ing at the mess.
Seriously, quiet > loud.
