I have a 98 gtp and this morning the car wouldnt start. I checked for fuel pressure at the rail and there was nothing. So I bought a delco fuel pump and installed. Still nothing. I tried hooking a scanner up and it would not connect. The fuel gauge is also pegged at full but there is only a 1/4 tank of gas in it. When I key the car up, the mpg on the DIC say what it should be and then a few seconds later it flashes "0.0". Has anyone else encountered this before? Thanks

Check the cig lighter fuse for the OBD2 port.

Have you looked at the relay for the fuel pump yet????

Check all the fuses in the car and under the hood. Might have popped one.

I didnt splice in the pigtail that came with it because the one that is on there is Identical. Might that be the problem? Is there a reason to change it if its the same?

I take it you mean the pigtail for the FP? As long as the pinouts are the same on both the pump and the harness side then I'd see no reason to. If it's like my 95 Bonne there is 4 wires in the harness. 2 for the fuel level sender and 2 for the FP.

its an identical connecter. I know some car and aftermarket pump have different connecter that why I went with the OE delco.

Time to check for ground and power at the harness maybe. Might have one not quite right. The fact that the fuel gauge is pegged at full and the pump won't run almost makes me think that something in the wiring is crossed, even though the harness is the same. Do you have a book that shows the electrical system and wiring colors? Then you would know which 2 are for the pump on the harness side and make sure that the same 2 wires coming FROM the pump are connecting to the same 2 on the harness.

I could be off but I've seen strange things even w/ OEM stuff. Mid-year changes, etc... Did you take a look at all your fuses yet?

After my own research it appears that there are 2 harnesses that connect to the fuel pump, not just one like on the older cars so my bad there. I did however find something that may help. Of course this is for a GT, but it was a 98. I can't see the GTP being any different.

The gray, green, orange 3 wire connector is for the fuel tank pressure sensor. The other 4 wire square plug is for the pump and level sender. This may help.

I also checked all the fuses and the scan tool still will not communicate. I was fine before the problem started though.
