to run a 3.4 "safely" youd need an intake, downpipe, colder t-stat, colder plugs, and a tune of some sort. with this minimal amount of mods you can get away with a vendor pcm, but its not really your best option. a stock pcm is going to have you knocking still with those though. a powerlog from zzp on top of this should net you knock free running. this will put you about $500 in the hole or less if you play your cards right.
your honest best bet is to start slow like all of us did. leave your pully stock for now and see if you can make it a little nicer without changing that first.
