I couldn't find the search bar on this forum anymore so I hope this isnt a repost, which I'm betting it is. I am about to down size my pulley from stock to, I think I want a 3.4. I have a 195 tstat and an intake. I would get colder plugs and probably eventually a ubend delete and a pmc from zz. After that I was wondering what range of mpg to expect for average driving.

needs more mods that than to drop to a 3.4.

and if you're 04+ even more mods.

Do mods first, then drop to a 3.6 is you're a 04+ car.

    You already have knock stock.

Don't touch the plugs or tstat.

Do get an Intake, Headers, Leave the pulley alone though. Your car will feel faster because it's no longer knocking.

I've read that post many times and from what it's saying on on my way to 3.5 or 3.4. I Might just take five fingers advice and do the mods I was thinking of then just drop to a 3.6. Yes it is a 04+. Why are the gen iii unable to take as much boost?

    You have knock (predetonation) stock.

Headers, Intake, leave stock pulley, and if you're not knocking, THEN a 3.6

ZZ stage 2 kit comes with PCM, downpipe, plugs, Tstat, CAI, and 3.6 pulley. So why are some of you saying I need to do more? Headers would be great, but from what I've read not absolutely needed. Might still go with headers, not sure yet.

    1. Don't buy "Stage" kits.
    2. ZZP is the same company that claims you can run a 3.5 pulley totally stock on a 97-03. -- Take what they say with a pound of salt.

I think a group of owners who have modded before and therefore have and share real world results best the knowledge of a vendor.

the blower is more efficient so you make more boost on the same pulley as the 97-03 folks.

I quess the 04+ having more boost makes sence, because we have different superchargers, correct? How do you know when you not knocking? From what I understand we have knock censors, why don't they stop this or let us know? Do I need to go straight to headers? I was looking at Pacesetter Headers from zz with pro kit and looks like it will bolt to stock and delete the cat. If my state doesn't require a cat, is that a good set up?

Yes we do but knock sensors only reduce timing advance AFTER knock has occured.

    Go straight to headers.

I'm not saying you are wrong I was just wondering. I am thankful for the advice. So are the headers i said good and do they bolt right on? Which headers do you have and where from?

I have the Ebay SLP/SSAC knockoffs, they work just fine.

I've heard the Pacesetters/OBX are a pain to get in. Hopefully someone here who has exp with them will chime in.

And yes they all bolt right in.

Looking on eBay there are headers costing around the same as a downpipe. If others agree something like this will work fine that's the way I wanna go.

    A 195* tstat is not a mod.

    Swop is spelled swap.

An aeroforce gauge or something similar would tell you if you're knocking.
