Back Story:I was driving home from Florida to Ohio in my 2000 GTP and I began to smell a faint exhaust type oil smell. I pulled over at the gas station looked under the car and noticed oil leaking from the car. First off I thought the nut from the oil pan wasn't tightend, because I got an oil change before leaving for Ohio. But I wasn't sure. Seeing that it was only dripping a little bit I checked the oil level which was full, kept going and made it to Florida with no problems.

I took it back to the place that did the oil change to make sure everything was tightend properly and they told me my Oil Sending Unit was bad. I picked one up from Auto Zone for about 13.00 bucks, but where the heck does it go!? Is it an easy fix, or should I call my mechanic?

look at the oil filter, on the neck, they is a sensor on the back side, remove the old one, install new one with teflon tape or thread sealer.

Oil will come out, so have something to catch it, and refill when done.

ps. take teh pass side tire off, makes it easy.

Typically you can ...in theory use a socket if you can swing the ratchet. Sometimes a short extension and the ratchet coming down behind the CV will do the trick. It's possible, just tight.

20 minutes? i did 3 of them in 10 or less, used a channel lock as nothing really fits well in there, after blowing 3 of them, i now have a brass plug in the hole where the sensor used to be,oil pressure gauge to follow as next install.

brass plug 2 bucks, not buying another crappy sensor. both the autozone and pepboys sensor failed me, all with in a year, keep an eye on the new one.
