Hello! Hope all enjoyed their thanksgiving.
    I have a 2000 GTP
Okay to start off. My cars engine is really greasy and dirty, probably from the leaking LIM? anyways, my car gets a bit smokey, coming from the spark plugs area far from you if facing the front of the car. I recently replaced the spark plug 1 because there was a mis fire. Turn it on, omg alot smoother. After awhile my car is now extra extra smokey, this time, coming from where the spark plug 1 is, and then goes to the back of the far spark plug area. My dad says its coolant.

I recently replaced both elbows and did a coolant flush, i might need to put more coolant in it. I also recently got some simple green and cleaned as much as i can in the engine bay so in theory there is still some grease that dripped on the manifold and its burning off. Im going to take it to the dealer when i get the chance. i commute 120 miles a day so when i get home. really tired. Car is sitting in the backyard.

Suggestion on parts. I wanna reduce and eliminate as much kr as i can for this car. I wanna put in a 3.4 pulley after getting buying whats necessary and then call it a day. Save up for next car! (: I read the safely modding your gp sticky but! im reading in posts that you should get stuff from ebay, or get this from zzp, or dont get this from zzp because its expensive and this and that.
    What i plan on getting:
Headers vs front manifold w/ u bend delete?
    thermostat. 195 vs 180?
oh yeah! im gonna sea foam there car soon too! next oil change
Im pretty sure im gonna get different opinions on this, which is okay!
Im all ears and if you think im doing something wrong or missing something, let me know (:

Your biggest leaks if oil is on the exhaust manifolds would be the valve cover gaskets. Replace them with fresh gaskets and grommets and you'll start living a smoke free drive to work.

If the LIM gaskets are black in color, then yes...I'd change them out with the aluminum framed ones. Those two right there cover motor longevity and the smelly leaks. (Of course while doing LIM's, injector o-rings, SC gasket or UIM gasket, TB gasket, and a can of TB cleaner.)
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Well im taking the car to the dealer to replace the LIM gasket. Should i have them do anything extra than that since they have it apart?

Have the coolant flushed and the oil changed too...

    after the LIM job.

    I'd DIY it...it isn't that bad...but that's just me.

i have done a coolant flush already, nice and dark orange and brown looking haha. replaced the radiator cap, and gave it an oil change too! There is no nearest Pontiac dealership, lots of GM dealers though, kinda picky with my mechanics thats why. They would probably charge me to do the valve cover gaskets while they do the LIM gasket for free right? Or does it depend on the person?

VC gaskets aren't part of a LIM job.

Yes, they'd likely charge you. Although if the front one has never been done, you should have a recall on it. So you'd in theory only pay for the rear one.

Agrazela was on here a lot and a great guy, San Diego if I remember. maybe try and pm him to see if he's still doing work on cars.

Why's everyone wanna be local to me? I'm only a guy that has worked on cars for a while and understands the common issues. That's all...

Commonly guys have pm's tied to an email notification. That's why I suggested it. Plus..Andy has always shown up whenever I tossed him a pm. I figured he had that setting enabled.

Glad you found it. If it's bulging out though..double check the pcv and make sure you aren't building pressure in the crankcase.

(In my head..I hear a voice that says "told ya so" )

Okay, im a bit confused. I read the recall saying they will improve the car by installing a new front valve cover gasket and replace the spark plug wire channel. Im guessing the valve cover was also hurt by this too, will they replace the cover as well? Short on cash.
