Got it, now im trying to figure out how to break the balancer bolt. Any tips before I try the redneck version of trying to start the motor hahahaa!!
I just remove the flexplate cover and put a 3/8" extension through one of the holes and go to town. When the motor rotates to the left the extension rotates up and against the block. You'll need a large breaker bar and a large muscle. I think the bolt is 22 or 24mm.
That is the harmonic balancer. The flex plate is in front of the torque convertor on the back of the motor. There is a plastic cover over it...two 10mm bolts and the cover is off. The torque convertor is quite close to the flex plate so if you want to use an extension you'll have to support it underneath with a jack or what I use, a 2 X 4 cut to just the right length. The 2 X 4 goes from the ground up to the extension with the tip of the extension in one of the holes in the flex plate. Make sure the car is on jack-stands and the wheels are chocked safety break on.
The other way to remove the balancer bolt is a large pneumatic impact wrench. This is what most people do.
That is harmonic balancer. The flex plate is other side of engine with the teeth on it for the starter. He jams a extension in it and spins till it jams.
Awesome but in order to get this off I have to remove the Transmission Inspection plate? It looks pretty straight forward but im just now mastering the CPS replacement, what should I look out for when removing the Inspection plate?
The plate is for accessing the torque convertor bolts. You'll see the flex plate under there. It has the teeth for the starter.
I find it easier to remove the starter which makes more room for locking the flexplate.
Success guys! Go the balancer off, replaced the CPS thanks for all your help you guys made it happen!
