Again, that sir is your balance shaft. You'll need to pull the crank pulley, then the front timing cover.

Only special tool is the pulley puller it's self. Then remove the gear from the end of the balance shaft, and put it back together.

    That's the simplest way.

If you want to do it the 'right' way, then you'll have to pull the motor, remove the entire balance shaft, and drill/tap the oiling holes, but there's just no need for that, unless you're going for a full out rebuild.

What he means is just remove the gear the drives it and let it stay in there. I don't recall if you have to take the timing sprockets off to get to that gear but if you do, remember those bolts are torque to yield so they need to be replaced. You'll need a new cam bolt and crank bolt

Okay but i have a bottom end of a gt grand prix with a gtp connecting rod on one piston soo i have 5 connecting rods that are gt and one gtp and gtp ones are bigger... Inconclusion wen i remove the balance shaft wont my crank be very unbalanced due to the one connecting rod bigger on one piston?

The balance shaft only cancels out harmonics and vibration at idle. The only consequence of making is non functional is slightly more vibration at idle.

    Ummm, cluster****?

So...you have an entire L36 bottom end...

FIVE pistons are high compression, expect ONE is from an L67?

And your running a 3.4", like stated in another thread...

Dude...how'd you manage to put that together in yerheadz?

    Because...my head hurts.

To funny. Another cool idea is to use a l36 for one head and a l67 for the other head

To change the cam bearing the procedure says you remove the crank. then you can get to the cam bearings. It may be possible to do it with the crank in. However if you pull any lower end bolts, please keep in mind they are TTY and GM says we should not reuse them.

There is a speical tool, I was not able to find one to rent anywhere.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

FWIW, if you are doing cam bearings, let a shop do them. Sometimes even if they are driven in correctly, you may need the bearing honed to fit the cam. Been there, and done that.
