How long should this thing last? I just crossed 100k, and am hoping to get 150k out of it. Although by then the cost of replacing everything else may make it non cost-effective.

That number difference in your whp & wtq seems to be huge. Is it because of the FWD? The only car that I've modded was an '03 Cobra, and the difference wasn't nearly anything like that.

Still original tranny's? I have a gasket leak that I need to get fixed, but otherwise I don't think I've had any issues with mine.
Had a bunch of work done recently, gasket between the SC & motor I think, sway bar link, plugs, other misc stuff. If it makes it good for another 100k miles than it's well worth it. It's kinda funny watching the mechanics out here in NV scratching their heads when they look at all of the rust under a New England car.... I tried to tell 'em that the shops back east didn't seem to have a problem. They still looked really confused. Except the exhaust shop I went to that didn't have a mechanic who spoke English.... they just happily went to work getting the job done for dirt cheap and better than most places I've ever been.

Yeah my tq number was higher, but certainly not that % difference.... 475/525 ---- Loved it, even though it wasn't anything more than a garage/weekend ride queen. But it got to a point where I had to dump a ****load of money into a new SC to get anything more out of it. And that wasn't going to happen.

But I'm happy with my GTP being stock but still able to get up and go when it needs to on the highway. And it doesn't suck too much gas.

i just hit 154k and still runs strong as hell! as a matter of fact. this is kinda personal **** but i had gottin into a very bad argument with my grandmother last night over something stupid, so i left the house feeling reallly effin mad. so i got into my mostly stock GP 3.8 and floored it away from my house. the second i got to the end of my street i had the biggest smile on my face and felt so much better. all that torque and the fact that it was driving on a very cold day without being started since the other day thru me in my seat and screamed up the street. when i came back to my house there were two long black lines of rubber in front of my house and my neighbors house. all in all good maintainence is the best thing you can do to a car. i change my oil twice a month(yes i know its not necessary) i change everything that needs to be changed before it even shows signs of wear. rotate my tires when they need to be and have it aligned when it needs to be. my car feels new everytime i go w.o.t and is the only car thats ever lasted this long with me behind the wheel. ive driven over 5 cars into the ground including jumping, climbing up little mountains in the quarry and driving thru water and flooding engines. i havent done that to the prix but i go w.o.t every chance i get and she holds true everytime.

I've let out more than a few personal things on the various forums I visit. A lot of people do I think, even if they don't want to admit it.

Change everything before it shows sign of wear? Jesus, you must swap your entire undercarriage after every winter. Most of mine is still original, even though it's a '99. But I know that serious suspension bills are in the near future. Bummer.

So how about the tranny? Next to the motor I would expect it's the most expensive single thing to replace?

Overall mine still appears to run great, with just over 100k. My tires are at the wear marks, but luckily out here I can put them off until at least the beginning of Nov., if not longer. Right now I'm more interested in getting all of the motor oil pan and tranny gaskets replaces. And probably the right side brake line. I can't believe it's lasted this long. Driver side gave out a few months ago. I didn't realize they put a metal line down the entire lenght of the car. Maybe it lasts longer than something else? But still; in New England, I'm surprised it didn't give out long before I brought the car out here.

Mine is up to 154K and modded.

My old GT is at 174K and been beat to hell.

My dads 05 is at 254K original everything. Tranny needs to warm up or it'll start jerking but then it's as smooth as a brand new car.

    These cars last..
