Yeah, it goes contrary to what you would normally think.

Well I didnt have a lot of time to mess with it today. I had to work on my wifes Jeep. It wasnt cooling like it should so I pretty much went through the whole cooling system and replaced it with the exception of the radiator. Then someone brought by a Dodge for me to work on, looks like it needs a new wheel bearing so I'll have to get that done as well.

But I did come up with something. And it kinda takes advantage of boost and then the low pressure in the cylinders. My thought was to raise the splitter higher, angle it just a bit more, but raise the splitter up so that the air goes to the left and right sides evenly. Isolate the left and right sides essentially. This would be a whole lot easier than trying to channel the air as it would be a matter of simply putting an extension on the splitter to accomplish everything.

    Input anyone?

How about going to lowes or home depot and getting a peice of aluminum that is in a 90* angle. You can buy it for around 8 bucks. Then tack welding it into the LIM over the existing ''splitter''. and maybe doing a little grinding to neaten things up.Walla then you have a perfect air splitter. And if fitment would be an issue as far as getting it into the LIM maybe cut it in half then insert it into the LIM then weld the two to the LIM.

    Just a thought.

IF you have to go that far to get the splitter in, you could also build the air tunnels so that each cylinder is getting the same amount of air. Kinda like the intake TDC showed us.

No i ment cut the Peice of aluminum in two. so that it will be shorter and can fit in the lim. then make the splitter one peice again. Got me?

Yea, I got ya. Even with doing that, some type of baffle could be put on each side to help direct the air flow. Maybe???

Well I believe that, as some pointed out, the cylinders getting the air is not an issue with it under boost. I think the issue is equal filling of the cylinders due to the fact the blower sits off center from the ports. So if you work from that, then the only thing that is needed is a better splitter with a more shallow angle.

TDC, I was thinking along those lines. Some 1" wide aluminum angle should do nicely. I do believe you would have to cut it in half though or something to get it in there. But the other thing you could do with that is stack it, so that you get a washboard effect. This would have the benefit of creating some turbulence in the flow which would help air flow actually and help atomize the fuel.

This also has the added benefit that if for some odd reason something went horribly wrong, none of the pieces would be small enough to make it to the cylinder and damage anything.

Ok So yeah stacking it up may just be a better idea. That way the splitter would also be raised up closer to the opening of the LIM there for the splitter may be more effective. If i have some extra cash I was planning on buying a used LIM and porting it. I would not mind doing this to it also. Keep the ideas comming.

I think the only question would be how to securely mount it in the LIM. You could use some type of epoxy or something like quick steel I suppose. Actually I think quick steel would be a better option of the two, but as far as mounting it with bolts or something, I have no solid ideas at this point.

Bolts....Nah....keep to the epoxy type bonding agents or tack welding it in.

You're probably right but the problem with tack welding is that not everyone has access to something like that and Im all for coming up with processes, that with a little investment of time and parts, can be done at home by anyone able to follow instructions.

ok so this picture may help your question. first of all the square bore for the inlet is actually pretty centered. as I noted in the picture you can see that 5 and 6 is pretty much evenly spaced as 1 and 2. obviously 3 and 4 get pretty much a straight shot into the cylinders. As for the divider I entirely agree with you that it isn't the greatest for performance. it you machine the ridge down and port and polish the LIM you would probably see a big difference in flow. as I can see thats just about the only thing you may be able to do to improve on a stock manifold. As for design, if an aftermarket company would make one with more of a tuned port style runner into cylinders 1,2,5,and 6 you would probably see more of a matched flow into each cylinder over stock, most likely resulting in more power and lower KR.

I see what you are saying, and I think saying they arent centered may have been the wrong term, rather off centered would be better, and Im still not convinced its good for flow. That said, however, I agree that a tuned port set up would be much much better. Absent that, I think that raising the splitter so that boost is evenly biased to each bank would have some respectable improvements and would probably be easier to do.

I guess we'll see, I plan on experimenting with this a little and see what I can do with it.

I'm very curious how your experimentation turns out. I've been trying to figure something out in my head as to improving this design for years but with a lack of space and equipment There not much I can do anymore. but please let us know how it turns out, Good luck.

To maintain that geometry without modifying the blower a lot (though ZZP seems to have found a way to clearance the blower case) they moved the injectors to the heads.
when I was talking with james, he stated the opposite, and that the in jector placement on the L67 was better, but angling the injectors has a huge effect on the atomization, there is only like .5 inch difference between the two injector mounts

Yeah, see James is someone I wish would come here and post up on this issue cause he has a lot of general common sense and detailed information about these cars.
