what does the smoke smell like?
maybe check your coolant level and see if its low, it may be leaking.
also maybe your valve covers are leaking oil onto the manfolds.
Smoking out the exhaust, hood, underbody?
its oil.. when it starts smoking from the tailpipe it looks like it starts smoking
from where the crossover pipe hooks to the rear manifold too
valve cover gaskets are brand new.
burning oil smells like burning oil
white clouds
oil burns blue/black
coolant burns white
i think i know what burning oil smells like
it does have a blueish tint
if you dont know what burning oil smells like you shouldnt have a car
dump a quart of oil on some hot exhaust manifolds....thats what it smells like
well if you can't smell..thats an exception.
i recently had this whole motor apart..put on a set of heads
i got from copgtp...i was questioning the valve seals when
i put the heads on, but they didnt look too old? idk
think its time to ditch this thing
This reminds me of when I recently sold a set of injectors to a member of another forum. He contacted me afterwards to say they leaked. When I inquired if he changed the o0rings, he had not.
Seals, gaskets and o-rings are standard fare to change out when you buy parts. Just because part of the TB gasket is on a TB you buy...you don't reuse it.
Not being a jerk here, simply stating what we should be doing.
Yep. I replaced my seals with my new-to-me heads.
wtf? i wasnt blaming anybody.. trying to figure out my problem..
i have lost about a quarter quart in about less then 350 miles.
the valve seals looked as though they had been replaced.
when i got the heads a few of the round clips on the top of the valve seals was popped off....but burning oil at start up and extended idling..clears out when revved.. does it sound like it could be valve seals?
i read in another thread that..."Blue smoke after idling at a light or during start up are classic signs of leaky valve seals"
this is my issue..but is this true?
cop, only reason i didnt replace the seals i thought you told me they were recently replaced? which they looked it.
