Well just got my '04 GTP, and it needs a new Catalytic Converter... Its rattling and smells. The car has also just recently developed a nasty sounding exhaust leak. I am wondering what all out there is offered for high flow cats. I wouldn't mind a lower exhaust note, but i don't want that raspiness that all you people want. I own a BUILT V8 car and don't need to have a mock V8 sounding car. I want it quiet when i'm cruisin.

    Don't worry...no matter what you do...it won't sound like a V8.

Get a converter from Frozen Boost. They actually AREN'T a converter...but have the shell of a HFC to make it look like its a high flowing unit...with a piece of straight pipe through it. They are like 30-40 bucks. You'll need a 2.25" one.

What kind of performance gains and sound gains are there??? I really need to keep it legal... Where i live we get stopped and the mechanics are smarter than to fall for that. Plus i can't take chances because I need a clear record to maintain my current job in law enforcement.

The factory catback is very quiet...with the resonator and mufflers there you probably will, if at all, barely notice a sound difference.

Performance gains...if your cat is clogged now, it's gonna feel like a damn race car. Realistically...maybe a horse or two over a factory unit, you won't notice it really.

from what ive heard our cats are right on the edge of being legal. meaning any high flow cat will cause an engine code unless you put in an o2 sim or have the code removed from the pcm. which are both illegal. youll probably need to replace it with a stock unit if you dont want any trouble.

Sounds good, i'll pick one up. Does the GTP have any notorious areas for an exhaust leak??? I mean it literally sounds like the muffler is about ready to fall off. My lift in my shop is full with my old muscle car, and don't have time to get it on the lift to check.

Perhaps the exhaust IS ready to fall off.

My car is an 02 and is on at LEAST its third mild steel catback.
