this is starting to remind me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer goes with the car dealer for a test drive with no gas and they drive the car till its running out of gas, blowing past every gas station. lol
Yeah that's almost the same for me lol I drive nearly all city driving plus we believe my cat is bad/clogged and I'm trying to find some extra time where I can get under the car and attempt to get the dp off and see. Because I have a year till I need to pass emissions so don't have to worry about having a cat yet lol.
I get 185mi typically with 99% city driving on e85. I only get a little over 13.25mpg calculated by actual fuel used. I track this religiously and I could tell you where the car would run out of gas if I had to. My typical fillup is around 14.2-14.5 gal when the gas light is on in my GS. Its a 17gal tank IIRC. Something isn't right w your level sender I'm sure. My light comes on at about 45mi remaining and by the time I get gas I use a bit I'm sure and almost always have 2.5gal less so if it came on at 45mi thats about 3gal l had left which is what my older GS did as well.
On the highway I get right to 300mi before the light comes on. Just shy of 21mpg generally, and tears e85 so you should be a lot better than that.
After swapping in the GTP engine/trans & PCM. Mpg dropped down to 23 mpg highway driving easy. Car runs great, but uses way too much fuel. The N/A engine/Trans got 32 mpg on highway. I know a GTP will get less gas mileage but not that bad. Anythoughts, compared to what everyone here is getting on here.
Well here we go I gave in today me needle came close to the end of the orange part in my gtp so I went to the gas station my dic said I used 11.7 gallons and I filled up and the pump said 12.6 always reset my trip and this time I went 196 miles till I filled up... Which if I do the math right that would be 15mpg but this still seems like my level sender may be out wack like reefer82 said. What are yalls thought and opinions.?
I just filled up too. I ran it dry this time due to a long idle at the house talking w someone before I went to gas station. I ended up putting in 15.175 gallons and got 187.4mi which is just under 12.4mpg. Lol. Had a little bit of a heavy foot this tank and ac has been blowing non stop with tons of pre drive cool downs as well since its been 98-100* for several days. This is actually the worst mileage I've ever gotten on e85. Thank god the price went down to 3.05. Surely you get better than 15mpg on 93. It's possible...if things aren't running tip top or you drive reasonably hard.
I have an 04 GT and I put 14.5-15 gallons in when I fill up and I always get over 300 miles, which is before the DIC says low fuel, then I get another 30-50 miles after that. This is about 40% highway and 60% city with average driving. I know my car is n/a but.....![]()
Mine is n/a, I use 87. My gas gauge has always seemed a little funky. I just filled up today, the needle was under the orange part but not quite over the bottom empty line (about 180 miles on that tank) and it only put in 13.4 gallons. So that's 13 mpg?
Would this be the fuel sender?
I drove 200 miles today. Average speed was 45.4, average mpg was 22.4, needle is JUST under half a tank and DIC indicates 189 miles left on tank. Highway 111 South in Tennessee with lots of city driving in the Chattanooga area. Its VERY hilly with the biggest being a 8% grade thats 5 miles long and many others that are at least 3%. My tranny fluid according to my DIC got to 240 degrees coming back up the 8% at 60-65. Never slipped or skipped a beat. Hope you get your issues worked out. I feel like mine could be much better but after reading some of these comments its not so bad.
I had to replace my fuel level sender a couple of months ago after it failed. The old one one would stay on full for about 50 miles then move down. I'd get the low fuel light with about 3 gallons left. With the new one in, it starts down from full within 10 miles but the low fuel light comes on with 5-6 gallons left in the tank. I'd say they're all different from my experience and reading the other replies.
I'm N/A and my mileage is around 29 when I'm on a road trip and around 20-22 around town. Much worse lately though. The AC is bringing that down fast with the 90-100 degree temps we've had!
I've never got better than 16.3 in the city on either of my motors. You're fine.
ok now i had a though today. i just had a code (but no light) for the pressure sensor low input i think is what it said. My question here is could my level sensor be fine but, the pressure sensor not allowing to completed fill the tank up or something? may sound dumb but any chance that could be my problem?
