hey guys so i picked up my gtp a few months ago its my 2nd car and i just had a 3.5 pulley tog headers, open cone intake and a tune installed. i was so happy after the install that i gave the kid who helped me some money even tho he wouldnt accept it but now im worried

i just got home from jannety racing in waterbury wheree i had the car dynod. well stock is 240hp 280tq and even after all my mods it only made 241hp and 290tq! is there something really wrong with my car? im rly worried i figured it would have over 300 with the mods and the kid who tuned it kept telling me its going to make good numbers and ill be happy, but im not how does all those mods only get me 1hp and 10tq is the tune wrong or there something really wrong with my car???

buddy that 240/260 is rated at the crank. so you lose 20%ish because of the tranny and torque converter. that being said your probobly close to 280/350 at the crank with your mods

those are good figures for the set up.. like ^ he said stock makes around 200hp at the wheels, so when you said you wouldnt be surprised if you made 50 more hp, well you were damn close

remember if you dont rebuild the motor you prolly wont see major hp/tq increase just by doin what you did.

as far as i know youll always have more torque than hp. its just the way the engine is set up.

but yes youre fine, those numbers seem healthy

Your cars fine. Manufactures HP and TQ ratings are to the crank. WHen the cars on a dyno it measures to the wheels. Every car dynos less the crank hp(unless its underrated from the factory). HP is lost in the drivetrain. Enjoy your car and be safe

Yes, your car is fine. The numbers are great. By rebuild I can only assume he was talking about major mods, like heads cams and such. Your car doesnt need a rebuild. It will run a very long time. the 3800 is a reliable tank

if you rebuild your motor you can see stuff like forged pistons an crank, higher compression, aluminum upper intake all kinds of stuff. thats were you get your major hp gains an if you go for forged stuff you can do the NoS injection an make upwords of 500 hp but you have got to have $$$. your only 17 i would never let a kid drive a car that powerful.

Dont listen to this guy, he obviously has no idea what he's talking about.

240hp is very good for your mods.
