I ran mine to the tach wire behind ithe instrument cluster or if you want to spend the money, you can get a tach box from summit or jegs. I'll try to remember the wire color and get back with you on it. It's been a while sense I hooked mine up.

There should be a white wire coming off the back of the instrument cluster. I tapped into that. I didn't cut the wire and hook into it, I use a splice connector to tap in. Haven't had any problems doing it this way and I've been running my tach for about 4 or 5 years now. Saves around 60 bucks for the tach box. Also your factory tach will continue to work also. Helps to see if one or the other is off at any time. Like I said, no problems out of mine. Let us know if you need anything else and when you get it hooked up so we know it went OK.

I guess I took my gauge for granted. The Impala's cluster is digital (receives digital values from the PCM and commands the motors to move to the right positions for all gauges). Incredibly accurate.

I believe the wire is brown, and its PIN H on the connector off the ICM.

Back when I first bought my car, we scanned it and the tach. was way off from what it should of been. Installed an after market tach. over the factory one, and rant the feed line right off the coil pack, so what we were reading was accurate.

Got smarter years later, and realized that you could take apart the speedo cluster, pull off and reset the actual needles to make them read right. Pulled it apart, and went for a drive with the scanner. got the RPM's to a even 2K while driving and reset the needle by hand. Been fine ever since.

Not a waste buying a high dollar tach. Its been removed from my GTP for quite some time. I'm going to use it in my '95 Sonoma project, since there is no tach. in those years, and I am installing a built LT1 motor with a ATI Procharger on it, so kinda want to know what the RPM's are of this motor for sure.

    Hope that helps.

I couldn't remember the wire color, but my manuals wiring diagram said it was a white wire running into the back of the speedo for the tach signal. That's where I ran mine instead of under the hood. Always been accurate.

There is no oil temp sensor. Get an oil pressure sensor. voltgauge can go to any power wire in the car.
