I have a 1998 pontiac gt with a 2002 gtp engine. I wanted to know what kind of headers I should get. I have a 304 stainless 3" catted, a w-body cold air induction system, and a qwikchange pulley system. I was debating between pacemaker headers($350) and stainless headers($700) from zzp. and what would the safest pulley be for me to use? It still has the 3.8 on it but i have a 3.4 pulley i could use

Ge the Wbodystore headers. They are the best bang for the buck as far as leak free fitment and price go.

I'm pretty sure that nj does require a cat so would i need to order it with the headers? and the car is tuned at the moment so would i have to retune it once i get the headers?

the cat is usually cheaper with the bundle, or around the same price. but ultimatley its up to you if you want to run a cat or go catless.

if the car is tuned for the 3.4 then you should just scan it to make sure you can use the 3.4 Kr free.
you should read this if you havent already

Just a FYI but having a cat is a federal law not state.

jersey for ever has been real strict about inspection and emissions, they used to look under every car but, i just went to the Lodi state inspection, and passed with a air bag light on, and a shattered d/s mirror, and they didn't even do an emissions test this time, or look under my car or test the brakes, or e brake, or lights, or horn, all they tested was the obd port for codes, ran the wipers up and down one time and tested the gas cap.

so i think these days here in new jersey if you had the codes deleted you could get away with it now a days.

funny thing is my friends brother just failed, at the same station. now get this, for the windshield wiper blades!! lol

I just got my dads car inspected and all they did was check it for codes. It had a fuel cap light on and we just went to a mechanic to get them to clear it out and it passed. My next question would be would a throttle body spacer do anything for my car? One of my friends has a buick regal gs and he was telling me that by putting a throttle body spacer in my car it would give my car the equivalent of a cold air intake

The TB spacer has been proven to be very ineffective. In theory it keeps heat off your TB because the coolant doesn't run into the TB. In reality the TB is in the engine bay and normal driving (except highway) your TB will be heatsoaked being in the engine bay. Plus..so liittle coolant runs into the TB that it doesn't heat it up. If anything a TB spacer causes more problems via coolant leaking into the engine than any other mod.

Aight cool thanks for the help on the TB question and headers too. My last question would be with the cold air induction system be effecient enough to keep everything cool with the wbody headers?

Right up until you stop and the engine bay heats up. Then everything heat soaks.

    Why hasn't anyone suggested $200 speed daddy's?
Ive installed more sets of these then probably any two people on this forum.

-Fitment is hit or miss. Some sets take 5+ hours to install while others take half the ammount of time.
-Leaking crossover is hit or miss also. Ive had sets with SUPER loose slip fits and sets with super tight ones.
-Downpipe sits LOOOW to the ground especially on lowered cars and the downpipe pieces need to be welded together.
-Flex isnt the greatest. Ive seen the flex fall apart on a good handful of cars in part because of the low quality flex but also because the downpipe sits so low that whenever it hits anything it puts a lot of stress on the flex and they can rip/tear/break.

Besides the issues I listed above... they are a good header lol. Regardless of the loose/tight crossover slip fits you can remedy that issue with two $10 "sheet metal" style band clamps. Flex can be replaced. Downpipe can be fixed to remedy ground clearance issues.

That all being said... I would buy Speed Daddys for my own car because I can fix them.

    ^^Same.

I tossed out my Welded up Pacesetter's for a set as well just because I can make them work.

Which they have...the only issue I had was the exhaust hangers not being in the same place as the pacesetters on the downpipe...so I had to bend that quite a bit to make it sit correctly. Other than that...no leaks...no issue with the crossover...but I'm not gonna fix the flex until it goes out anyways. I'm lazy like that.
