Re: Won't start after cam install
Some of the valve seals are wrecked, so I'm going to replace those. However, I don't have the spark plug air adapter so I won't be able to get it running until tomorrow at the earliest. Always something. :(
Re: Won't start after cam install
wait...what did we find? how do we know it's going to run now?

The cam/crank timing is fine. The valves and pistons never contacted each other. The harmonic balancer problem (a serious ignition timing problem) is the only possible thing that could have caused this... I think.

Worst case, use some para cord in the spark plug hole. Just get it to the bottom of the intake stroke or whatever, jam as much rope in there as possible and hand turn it to the compression stroke until it gets hard to turn. and take the spring off. I don't like air, you drop that valve somehow you are screwed.

The valve won't drop if the piston is at TDC.
Re: Won't start after cam install
Sometimes the air likes to push the piston down.

Yea. The piston has to be at the perfect spot. If it doesn't work, I'll use rope.
Re: Won't start after cam install
Changed all the valve seals. Got the rest of the valvetrain (pushrods, rockers etc.) assembled and torqued. I turned my motor over by hand and it is turning over WAY easier than before. No binding or strange sounds. All the valves are opening how they should. LIM is ready to go on. Can't wait to get this done.
