right well starting with the fiero people they have done just about evety single gm engine and trans combination i can think of for a transverse transmission and engine setup.

ohh and people said the ls4 and 4t80 wouldnt work together but hmmmmm thats been done too. its also even documented on this site and others too. by furches performance that was in the turbo ls4 4t80 monte carlo

Tyler...4T80 blows also....hard parts are great but is not a boost friendly transmission. There have been multiple people that have done successful swaps only to have HORRIBLE 2-3 shifts in it.....to the point where it wont even go into gear. Dave at TEP has even said this.......ask him about his 4T80 turbo car and he'll repeat exactly what I've said. They seems to be fine sub 400whp but all turbo applications show the true weakness of the 4T80

This. Even though the 65e is a lot more expensive, it will still hold a lot more power. If the shifts can be figured out on the 80e, that will probably be a much better route.

Still have hard time believing this when twinv6gt twin engine monster used a 4t80 in the rear throwing over like 600 hp at it. and James has used the 4t80 also and Zeph on TCG in a twin charged park avenue.

Again for the price of a fully loaded 6-7k unobtanium GMR trans id rather blow up 4t80s left and right instead...

Im not saying its plug and play problem free setup but cost wise I still cant justify that much into a 4t65.

Right and again WAYYYY Over 600hp mated to a LS4!

Good lord people Im not saying its an end all trans IT IS HOWEVER WAY cheaper!

and CAN be done and has been done.

a 4t80 in a 500hp sub 3k car that's gutted would last longer than the twin engine tube chassis car or Furches setup.

Take a look at how much it takes to make even a 4t6fail to hold 500.....

LOL people saying well so and so blew up their 4t80.... and so and so blew up their 4t80....

    BOTH were over 600whp.......

I'd sure like to see how long a 500ish whp setup would last. 500 should be good for low 11s high 10s......

At under 3k pounds the caged car I have went 10s with less than 500hp on a SC setup just for a little perspective.

In a swiss cheese gutted car a 4t80 would be pretty solid with about 500hp.

Both the twin engine setup and furches ls4/4t80 setup were all over kill and people wonder why they obliterated transmissions.....

TwinV6gt guy had problems with transmission holding shifts......

Frushes had problems holding shifts and over revved and blew motor.....

    seeing a trend here??

Jame's has had the best results so far but will also tell you about the same issues.

4T80 is getting less and less common as it's an older transmission.

If this 4T80 is such a great alternative then why isn't the swap more common....????

GTPpower may have one available and I'm still trying to get the one on clubgp.
What dave told me was he could rebuild mine and put 2.93s and a new 7/8s chain he said he would recommend dropping the boost way down but still said I should change the chain once a year. So I'm trying to track down a 1" and just be done but we will see how everything plays out. He is taking my trans with him tomorrow so at least it saves me some shipping.

If I had a trans that would hold I would love to take it to the track, not on a regular basis but I'd give it a go every once in awhile.
